The Love Of God Can Change You
As I sit here pondering, I am reminded of all the times I encountered God.
It started as a five-year-old girl who experienced God’s presence fall on me.
I knew in that moment I was forever changed.
Kneeling at my mother’s knee, asking Jesus in my heart.
I asked her to lead me into the prayer of salvation after seeing a calendar on the wall with a picture of Jesus holding out His hands.
I felt a huge tug in my little heart.
It was an overwhelming moment that began an awakening in my heart of how much God loves me.
And later, as I grew, that presence has never left me.
A while later, a lady came up to me during a prayer meeting at our church.
We were all kneeling and praying.
I was next to my mom and dad.
An older lady asked, do you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit?
All I remember is the Holy Spirit coming on me.
It was like a lightning in my heart.
I began to speak in tongues.
The Holy Spirit filled my little five-year-old heart.
I began hearing the voice of God.
And to this day, I hear His voice.
As I skip forward, remembering my life experiences, I can say my life wasn’t perfect.
I did stumble and fall.
And had moments I thought my marriage would end and I didn’t want to live anymore.
But even then, it was crying out to God for help and feeling His hand on me as I prayed in my heartache.
I felt His calming presence whisper, It’s going to be ok.
Even though I couldn’t see it with my eyes, I felt God was working things out for me behind the scenes.
And He did.
My husband and I’s marriage was restored.
We are humbled because we know that what satan meant for harm, God turned our marriage around for His glory.
And loving each other now, after all we’ve been through, is sweet.
We are more in love because we know God is with us through it all.
And He is with you.
He is more powerful than we can imagine.
God can change you.
His love will change you.
Darkness has to flee at the mention of His name.
Jesus is the only answer to the plight of man.
Satan has already been defeated, and we don’t have to bow to his influence.
Only God can overcome the enemies’ lies spoken in our minds.
We are in need of His mighty power in our lives.
And it is as simple as saying His name.
Jesus!
It’s not complicated, nor do we have to jump through hoops to be found by God.
He is there, every moment and everywhere.
What I love is it doesn’t matter who you are, where you’ve been, or what you’ve done.
He accepts you the way you are.
God can change you.
It isn’t in our power but in His power to change our hearts.
Two thousand years ago, when Jesus came to this earth, His teachings weren’t accepted by the Sadducees and Pharisees.
Because He was bringing good news to the whole world.
Not just for the Jews but for everyone.
That He came to die for all humanity.
That God’s love wasn’t just for a few but for all who would receive.
And when He died, He took the power of satan and sin upon His back with every whip, scourge, and shame on the old rugged cross.
For you, me, and every woman, man, and child in this world.
“For God so LOVED the world that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
It was God’s desire from the beginning that no one should perish.
Wickedness has been around from the beginning of time.
From Cain, who killed his brother, to the horrific murders and hateful acts of violence of today.
But that isn’t what matters.
It is the love of God that changes us.
It’s His power that changes the heart of the wicked.
Taking power from satan those years ago while Jesus hung on that cross and then rose again on the third day.
Wickedness has already been defeated.
It has no power over humanity.
As much as we wish God would punish evil doers.
And He will.
He is compassionate to any heart that is yielded to His presence.
Anyone who repents of their sins, He forgives.
Even the wicked can be forgiven if they see the errors of their ways and cry out to God for forgiveness.
He will forgive them.
Death is part of life.
The victory is death isn’t the end.
It is only the beginning of living with God for eternity.
Jesus said before He ascended into heaven after he rose from the dead, “I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1-3
It’s the hope of glory—the hope of not being bound by fear or anxiety.
Just one touch of God’s presence changes our lives.
He brings life to our hearts.
God can change you.
Evil men may have an agenda to kill, destroy, and do harm.
But the glory is all who have died at the hands of the wicked are now living the best life in God’s presence.
It is God who has the final say.
He is our liberator, our deliverer.
Who takes the sting of death and hell and puts it on His shoulders.
He was dealt the blow on the cross so that humanity could be free.
That our destiny is a wonderous life in His presence.
For it is God who won!
This is what we need to hear.
Because our destiny isn’t what is happening in the here and now.
But it is the hope of what we have for eternity with Christ.
And whatever you need now, freedom from fear, freedom from insecurities or life circumstances, God is near and hears your heart.
He is only a breath away.
The love of God can change you.
“Father, I pray for everyone reading this.
That your presence would fall on them. Change them. I pray that you would speak to the innermost part of their heart and breathe hope into their inner soul. And bring change to their heart.
I pray you would silence the enemy in their lives and deliver them from satan’s hand of destruction as only you can do. For in you, satan has no power. Not over any of us as long as we breathe the name of Jesus.
For it is in your name, we are delivered and set free.
No matter who we are, what our background is, where we come from, or what we’ve done, you have the power to restore, make whole, and bring life to anyone who desires a relationship with you.
Jesus, you want a relationship with mankind. It was your desire from the beginning of time. And it is our destiny to be with you forever. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
If you haven’t yet, I invite you to come to the altar and pray this prayer of salvation.
Say this out loud or in your heart, ” Jesus, come into my heart. I ask you to forgive me of all my sins. I’m sorry for the things I have said and done, and I ask you to forgive it all. I want a relationship with you. I ask you to live in my heart. To make yourself real to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
If you prayed this prayer, you are now His.
And He is yours.
God can change you.
And if you want a resource to help you in your new walk with God, here is a Bible.
For a daily devotional to grow into the person God has predestined you to be, here is a daily devotional.
God brought you here for this purpose.
No matter where you are in your walk with God – you are precious.
You are loved beyond words.
And you are Gods.
His love for you broke open the heavens, and He walked this earth to find you.
This story says it perfectly.
It’s about the adultress woman that was brought to Him.
3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her,
“Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” Romans 8 : 3-11
Do you know what this means?
No one can condemn you.
There is not one person without sin.
No one deserves forgiveness.
Yet He later died and did it willingly for the woman who was condemned and for everyone who will believe.
He died for you and for me.
So, I say to you, walk in the way of the Lord.
With your head held high.
For you are beloved and considered precious in His sight.
Loved beyond measure.
So, I end this by saying God can change you.
He will do in you the impossible.
As He has done for millions before you.
The faces you will see in heaven are endless.
That will be the day.
The love of God can change you.
May He bless you and keep you.
