The Lies the Enemy Tells

One of the things I get tripped up on is listening to the lies the enemy tells.
Has that happened to you?
I want to give some strategies on how to fight these lies and live in the truth.
First of all, you are not the lies the enemy tells you.
You were created by an incredible God who knows you by name. Psalms 139
Nothing is hidden from Him.
You were thought of before the foundation of the earth.
That is the TRUTH.
Here is a scripture that solidifies who you are.
Ephesian 4:4-8
4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he[b] predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us.
God knows who you are.
And believes only good thoughts towards you.
He believes in you more than you believe in yourself.
When you hear the words, I am a failure.

I am ugly. I am no good. I’m this or that.
That is not the truth.
Even if you fail, make mistakes, or you’re not always good.
That doesn’t take away from the fact you are not the lies the enemy tells.
The enemy (satan) takes our inward insecurities and turns them against us.
So, they can seem like the truth.
Because to be honest, it is a thought we have thought, then it is stretched into this elaborate lie that sounds like truth.
Like the times I’ve been angry at my husband.
In the past, my mind would go through all the things I was angry about. Before you knew it, my thoughts would turn into character bashing.
Because I was already mad, I was easily manipulated into thinking the worst about my husband.
Now, when we play into these thoughts, it is on us how we react.
It’s when we agree with the evil accusatory beliefs that it can turn into something that isn’t real.
And when played out by spuing lies to our spouse.
Well, that is when a division takes place, and what was an innocent thought turns into a huge blame that can damage a marriage and bring about unneeded stress and untruths.
I mean, I have been there.
This is why I can speak of this so strongly.
I am warning you that this is a dangerous place when we take the lies spoken in our thoughts and run with it.
It not only makes us look like a fool, but it shows our weaknesses and how easily we are manipulated.
But the way to fix all this is to stop believing the lies.
Anything negative spoken is a lie.
Anytime you are wondering what is said inside your thoughts against anyone, not only do you need to question it, but you need to stop it.
It’s like turning off a radio.
I will blare my music on errand day while in my car or doing housework to drown out the voices in my mind.
But the other way to fully be free of it is to be aware of the lies and say no!
Literally saying, ‘No satan, get thee behind me, in Jesus’ name!’
Yes, we have authority in Christ to tell satan to take a hike.
The more you work out this muscle of saying no, the less it will happen.
And that is victory!
Here are some more practical things you can do to overcome the lies the enemy tells.

One is to read your Bible.
I know! Who has time for this? I mean, what do I read?
Well, this subject of lies is a great place to start.
In the back of the Bible is a Concordance.
Look up the word lies, for example.
Read all of the scriptures on lies.
Jesus dealt with this (lies) when He was confronted by satan, who tempted Him.
Matthew 4: 8-11
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
I mean, the devil had the audacity to tempt Jesus to worship him. Hello!
Jesus’ response was with scripture. ‘For it is written.’
This is where the power is.
The Bible has the power to bring change and to set minds right.
And the biggest power it has is to counteract lies with truth.
Jesus dealt with this when speaking to the Jews.
John 8:33-38
They said, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.[b]”
They argued with Jesus. Not understanding what He was saying because they were blinded to the truth.
They continued…
John 8:39-47 (It’s long but worth the read.)
39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered.
“If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would[c] do what Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41 You are doing the works of your own father.”
“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.
He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
Nothing Jesus said made them understand.
And they finally did crucify Jesus on the cross because they believed the lie.
Right before their eyes was the Messiah as was prophesied.
But they couldn’t see Him for who He was.
The death the Jews meant to end Jesus’ life was the very death that brought life to the whole world.
So, what do we have to fear?
Nothing.
If God sent His son to die for us, and we embrace this truth, we are free.
If God is for you, who can be against you?

To silence the lying voices is to silence the evil that wants to pull us down.
Don’t let the enemy rob you anymore.
Especially to know that every word he speaks are lies.
It is a relief! You don’t have to carry these lies around anymore.
Shake them off!
When we live in the truth and come into the light, we can see plainly.

And when we see ourselves as unworthy or not enough, we can be sure this is a lie.
Another inspirational scripture to cement the truth. Found in the Book of Romans Chapter 8.
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Do you hear that?
Nothing is able to separate us from the love of God!
When we receive His love, it changes our insides.
When we look to Him for our needs and ask Him to help us be a better person, we are getting His strength to do the impossible.
He changes us.
And then we are not reliant on ourselves to change.
But relying on God to do the changing, resting in Him to do it, then living in faith that we are being changed, day by day.
So, I encourage you to listen to a different voice.
One who reigns for all eternity and speaks only good things about you.
And knowing this will change that weak part of us that is so quickly swept away by lies.
Let me pray.

“Father, I pray for everyone reading this today that you will shine your light into their hearts.
I pray for a supernatural change right now, from disbelief of who they are to believe the truth of what you say they are.
That you love them with an everlasting love that will never fade.
And for every lie spoken, I pray it will be broken off, in Jesus’ name.
I pray for an eternal change that will lead to life everlasting.
To be free here on earth from satan’s lies.
I pray this in Your name, Jesus, Amen.”
There is more to learn and more to understand when it comes to Christ.
There is a book I read many years ago that is still a powerful resource that you may enjoy.
It’s called, Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer.
Since this subject today is about the Lies the Enemy Tells, then you will be blessed to read a book that delves into the subject of overcoming the thoughts in our minds.
Thank you for reading, and I am praying for you right now; and hope you were blessed because this was a word for you.
God bless!
