Living an Elegant Life at Home
In this post, I want to focus on how you can live an elegant life at home.
Where you can personalize certain things that will add elegance and beauty to your everyday life.
To transform your approach to a quality way of living that enhances your senses.
And I hope these ideas will explode into many more ways of living an elegant life at home.
What does it mean to live an elegant life at home?
It means to put thought into every part of your day.
Like when you’re getting ready in the morning.
Having a space just for you that is beautifully put together, like an old antique vanity that is organized with your hairbrushes, makeup, moisturizers, and whatever you need to start your day.
But not just anything.
I’m talking about old vintage bygone pieces that are not seen much anymore.
Quality high-end antiques that are beyond what is available in big box stores.
Nothing is more valuable than old pieces that are made with solid walnut, mahogany, and oak wood, to name a few.
Here is a thrift and antique shop with me video looking at some of the most beautiful antiques to show you what I’m talking about.
I put together this extraordinary antique vanity.
I placed some vintage pink rose creamers, sugar bowls, and platters on top of the vanity to house my makeup brushes, Q-tips, and whatever else I needed.
This has made my mornings peaceful, so I don’t have to dig through the drawers to find these small items I use every day.
I even put some rose-patterned transferware on my wall to fill up the space on top of the mirror.
And the cute little gold frames with the bird prints inside have added to the overall look I was going for.
This space is different than the rest of my house.
It has all the pinks and feminine things that make me feel beautiful.
And I’m not talking about feeling beautiful on the outside but on the inside.
As I sit writing this post, I am looking at some inexpensive finds, and yet no one would know it.
But they have beauty that I love and enhance my senses in my everyday life.
Like the huge silver and gold mirror found at a thrift store for under $25.00.

Part of the journey to creating an elegant home is to invest time in looking for cheap finds.
I never know what I will find, but because I have a mental list of what I want in my home, it makes it easy to spot those one-of-a-kind pieces that pop out at me when thrifting.
Or when searching on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
This journey of surrounding our life with extraordinary elegance doesn’t require a lot of money.
It requires a vision and then consistency.
The process of finding my treasured pieces has taken me several years.
And I am not done.
I envision how I want my home to look, and yet I know this journey is a little-by-little progression to get there.
I looked up what the word elegance means.
The dictionary says it is “the quality of being graceful and stylish in appearance or manner.”
That is exactly what it means to live an elegant life at home.
Our home is an extension of who we are.
It’s how we see ourselves and how we want to live our lives.
This led me on a journey to surround myself with old, vintage antiques that speak of a time when life was slower and every task had a purpose.
Because that is what I want.
I want the old antique Victorian sofa with its curves and wooden arms and legs.
It’s beautiful and unlike anything else, I could find at Pottery Barn or Ikea.
Not to say I don’t find things at those stores, but not like this!
Believe it or not, as I embrace a life of elegance, I found that those old things were easily found inexpensive and, in the end, budget-friendly.
Here is a look at the hutch in our dining room.
My style is Victorian Farmhouse.
I love combining the two styles because there is a cozy, rustic factor to the farmhouse style that goes beautifully with the more refined Victorian style.
They clash in a good way!
So, when I combined old white stoneware, like the Pfalzgraff collection, with the silver on my hutch, it blended nicely.
And talk about cheery!
All of these things were found at Goodwill.
I’m not kidding you!
Here is a video sharing the day when I found most of these things on this hutch.
Another place to add elegance is in the kitchen.
I have an old antique flow blue teapot that I placed on a white hutch in my breakfast nook, which is also in my kitchen.
Beside it, I have my favorite flow blue teacup and saucer.
Talk about elegance.
They are pieces of art!
And yet, I use the teacup and saucer to drink tea and coffee most days.
This is what I mean about living an elegant life.
Or the sewing machine drawers where I put my Keurig coffee pods.
The old antique wood is unrivaled.
It is a simple addition to my more modern kitchen, giving it that old-fashioned look.
Opening up the old, worn drawers each morning adds to my senses.
It’s a great way to start my day as I pull out a Keurig coffee pod.
Simple things like this add to living an elegant life at home.
Honing in on a few outstanding pieces that will enhance your everyday life.
I hope this gave you ideas for your home.
