Victorian Lane Farms

A little about me.

Welcome to my blog, friend.

I’m a city girl from Seattle. I have three amazing adult children: two daughters and a son.

I’ve been married for 33 years to my supportive and kind-hearted husband, Brian. He’s my biggest fan who pushes me to my greatest potential.

He rescued me by finishing a DIY project, as shown in the video below.

It ended up being an epic video showing how to put casters on a wingback chair.

I love how it all turned out and was so grateful to have my amazing husband step in to get it done correctly.

Great memory!

Some interesting facts about me:

  • I work from home.
  • I’m a writer. You’ll be able to purchase my historical novel soon.
  • I’m a thrift store junkie. I love good deals.
  • I recently started a YouTube channel. You can follow me here.
  • My favorite hobbies are creating comfy spaces in my home, window shopping at antique and gift shops, knitting, looking up Victorian houses for sale, and going to the open house.
  • I love card games and have a competitive streak.
  • I’m a romantic at heart. On weekends, I watch romance movies or historical period series.
  • I love to research.
  • I desire to adventure in the off-grid life. I know, it sounds lofty for a city girl. I want chickens that lay eggs every morning. Enjoy a piece of land in the woods. It’s my biggest dream.

Why I created this blog.

Starting this blog turned out to be more rewarding than I imagined.

In 2020, I never even thought I’d be blogging, ever!

It was always a dream.

In January 2021, I took the plunge and joined Lisa Bass’ “How to Start a Blog” course.

After implementing all the steps, it became clear this was my jam.

Writing about what I love has made me grow and become better at what I do.

I initially created this blog to write. Now, after all I’ve learned, I can say I created this blog to connect with wonderful people like you.

It’s opened doors to getting to know there are peeps like me in this world who love DIYs and making their home cozy and inviting.

The content I share with you on this blog is things I already love! It’s exciting to share my grandiose ideas with you.

Put on your seatbelts! Are you ready for all my inspirations and ideas? I am.

BEFORE photo of our antique sofa makeover. Found it for $50.00. My all-time favorite DIY as of yet.
AFTER photo of the antique sofa. Painted fabric and wood with Annie Sloan paint. You can see the full tutorial by watching this video here & a written post with step-by-step instructions on how to get the look here.

My husband loves my brilliant ideas. Sometimes, it turns our house upside down.

I try not to go over the top, but I can’t help it sometimes.

Decorating, DIYs, old vintage pieces, and living simply through daily routines and natural living are things that exude from my being. I love those things.

Sharing them with you inspires me to let my creative juices roll!

So, DIY world, you better watch out!

As I impart my inspirational ideas to you each week, we are creating a place where we can look to bring beauty to our spaces.

BEFORE photo of our chair we purchased on Craigslist for $20.00. Look at that fabric. This was the chair that started my love for painting fabric.
AFTER photo of our chair painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint. If you want to transform a chair, follow this link to learn how here.

A place we love to be when all around us is ugliness.

In this time of unwanted circumstances, we can choose to look to the good.

Be it being kind or simply getting some paint out to transform something to make it beautiful.

In these things, we can control what we do.

Maybe we can’t do anything to make our world better, but we can control the little world we have before us.

So, let’s create here at Victorian Lane Farms.

If you haven’t done it yet, get my updates, where I share my weekly grand ideas, DIYs, or inspirations.

You, my friend, are amazing. It’s my pleasure to be a part of your life.

Thanks for coming by!

It’s almost sweater time.
