4 Simple Chalk Paint Makeovers for Beginners

Today, I’m sharing some of my most loved posts where I share these amazing chalk paint makeovers.
The compilation of chalk paint DIYs I’m sharing with you today are examples of how paint can transform so many things into something unique and beautiful.
What I love about paint is there are so many colors to choose from.
You can give your home that one-of-a-kind look with a green-painted chair or a shabby chic pink frame, for example.
These DIYs projects are easy and perfect for beginners.
For each of the projects I share below, I will include a link where you can find easy directions.
Here are my 4 simple chalk paint makeovers for beginners.
#1 – Making over frames with chalk paint.
This easy transformation can take your frame from blah to wow!
Here is the link to this Goodwill frame makeover.

For this frame makeover, I used Folk Art Home Decor chalk paint.

I loved how easy this paint was to work with. It went on smooth and dried into a beautiful matte finish.
After it dried I took some sandpaper and gave it a nice rustic, chippy look.

Below is a white mirror I painted. I lightly buffed the edges and raised areas with sandpaper for a rustic look.

Another frame I painted is this fireplace mantle that I turned into a chalkboard frame.

I bought it at a second-hand store for $45.00.
For this frame I painted it with Annie Sloan paint in the color Old White.
It is one of my favorite pieces I enjoy placing all over my home.
Plus, it is fun to write my favorite scriptures or seasonal sayings.

#2 – Paint a table and chairs.
Linking the tutorial on how to paint a table and chairs, here.

The photo above is the before.
This breakfast nook looked a little dreary and needed some pizazz.
So, I took some Annie Sloan chalk paint and painted them.
Here is the YouTube video for that DIY. I learned something during that video to wait for the paint to fully dry before applying a second coat. That’s how life goes, sometimes, doesn’t it? Live and learn?
After I figured out the issue, I repainted it and placed it in the corner of my breakfast nook.
And boy, it was exactly what that area needed!
What do you think? Do you like it?

I then added the matching Pottery Barn chairs that I painted with Annie Sloan paint.

I added a little blue antique chair that I found at Goodwill.
And a brand new rug from Amazon. Link here.
Plus, a beautiful dish rack that I had customized by a seller on Etsy.

I give a tour of this breakfast nook on YouTube. I’m linking the video below.
This area became bright and cheery.
I encourage you to give it a try if you have a table and/or chairs that need sprucing up.
It will bring a big impact to your home.
I think this breakfast nook looks fantastic.
I love this space now!
#3 – Paint a Sofa

You guys! This was the most loved DIY by all of my fans.
On YouTube it is my most watched video.
And being a newby in the blog and YouTube world this was an amazing experience.

Here is a link to the video sharing how I painted this sofa.
Check out the transformation!
This is not only beautiful but it is perfect for my Victorian rustic look.
I’ve been slowly changing each area in my home to transform it piece by piece.
And this sofa adds to that transformation.
I am in love!

#4 – Paint a Chair
Link how to paint a chair, here.

This was the start of it all.
I bought this chair (see the photo of its ugly fabric below) for $20.
I had heard about painting a fabric chair and wanted to give it a try.
The chair I chose was a little risky since it was a busy design.
But it had the perfect smooth fabric and style I was looking for.
Here it is in it’s ugly stage.
The black design is not that appealing in my opinion.

The Paris Grey color covered it so well, that you wouldn’t even know what it looked like before.
What I love about this nuetral color is how well it works with other colors.
I’m not restricted to one color for pillows or blankets.
I love the versatility of it.
What do you think?

I hope this compilation of my best chalk paint DIYs was an inspiration to get your paintbrush out and make your home beautiful.
My hope is that you will be able to give new life to old things in your home for cheap.
With the cost of paint and some time you can have a fresh new look that will bring a smile to your face.
