Simple Thanksgiving Table Setting with a Twist

I’m sharing a simple Thanksgiving table setting with a twist.

It’s an unconventional way to set a Thanksgiving table.

Something you probably have never heard of.

The first time I came across this idea, it was the most comfy and cozy thing I ever seen.

Never in a million years would I have thought of this on my own.

But it is probably the most unique idea that is sure to be the talk amongst your guests for Thanksgiving day.

Ok. Are you ready to hear it?

It’s using a QUILT for a tablecloth.

You heard me right.

In this post, I will be taking you step by step on how I set this table for Thanksgiving.

Here are the steps on how to put this table together.

Step 1: Clean off your table.

Step 2: Put your quilt on the table.

Lay it across a diagonal with the pattern centered.

Step 3: Gather leaves from outdoors.

If it’s raining, as in my neck of the woods in Seattle, cut them the day before and let them dry overnight.

Take the branches and cut them down to fit into a vase.

For a full look, put an overflow of branches like the photo below.

It gives it a beautiful look.

Step 4: Take candle holders or silver candelabras as I used them for my table. Put them on both sides of the leaf bouquet.

Step 5: Put one white and one red patterned plate on each other and place it on the table, for example. Having two plates for Thanksgiving is a must. Guests love seconds and dessert. Plus, it looks amazing to layer each place setting.

Step 6: Take a simple white cloth napkin.

Fold it into a rectangle.

Wrap burlap twine with the brown name tag into a simple bow tie around the cloth napkin.

Tuck a real fall-colored leaf into the burlap twine.

When guests sit down and are ready to use their napkins, they can simply untie them.

Step 7: Place the napkin on the side of the plate.

Step 8: In my YouTube video, I omitted this step.

But for each guest, you will need a water glass and a sparkling cider or special drink glass.

I use mason jars for sparkling cider and purchase $1 wine glasses from Dollar Tree and use them for water.

It makes the table look more festive and can be labeled at the bottom with the guest’s name to keep track of their water glass.

Take some string and paper name tag and tie it at the neck of the wine glass.

Super easy and a necessity for Thanksgiving day! Don’t you think? I love that idea.

Where to get a quilt.

Getting an old quilt is hard to come by.

I acquired many of the ones I own from Goodwill.

Look at:

• Value Village
• Thrift Stores
• Etsy
• Ebay
• JCPenney
• Sears

You can probably find them on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace.

When looking for quilts, make sure they have no rips or tears in the fabric or seams.

This makes it easy to wash in the washing machine.

Once washed when you bring them home, they are wonderful cozy additions to your home and maybe on your table.

Not only is it a unique way to set your table, but quilts are wonderful anywhere you want that cozy, nostalgic feel.

On my wall shelf, I added some leaves into a vase.

I found these cute little wood signs on Amazon here. One says, Gobble Gobble. The other one pictured on my dresser below says, Hello, Pumpkin—a simple neutral addition to make a space feel bright.

Not to leave out that turkey! Isn’t he a cool addition? Mr. Turkey is made out of paper and under $5.00. Here’s the link.

On my dresser, I kept the leaf theme.

I filled my Pfalz Graff teapot with leaf branches and stuck some in the back.

Taking a wood charger, I placed it in the middle to fill in the space.

And there’s the Hello Pumpkin sign, I found it here.

On the left is a white Pfalz Graff soup tureen.

I love how this all came together.

The final touch to decorating my dining room table for Thanksgiving was to hang this super amazing farmhouse banner that says, Happy Thanksgiving.

It’s made with burlap.

A quick festive way to announce the event on Thanksgiving day as the guests arrive.
